A cage card is a small identification card attached to an animal’s cage or kennel. It typically includes important information about the animal.
We’ve created a cage card template for your use, designed to help identify animals and their needs during spay/neuter appointments. It organizes all the necessary information in one easy-to-read format. Here are some tips for creating and printing them.

They look like this with appointment details:
Important: Open the downloaded template in Microsoft Word ONLY. If opened in another program the merge fields will lose their coding.
Printing Cage Cards
It is best to print cage cards that will not bee too large and obscure the view of an animal in the kennel. When printing the recommended cage card template, set your print option to print two per sheet and fit to printable area.
Print out the cage cards, then physically cut the paper in half with scissors.
Because you will want to cut the bottom of the cage card do not print it with another template.
- Go to Clients > Print/email Paperwork.
- Filter appointments for spay/neuter versus wellness and/or dog versus cat in dropdown selection.
- Select All animals by ticking this checkbox above the first animal’s name.
- Then, click the blue button Print Paperwork
- Select the custom template cage card > Print Selected.
- A PDF preview will generate. Click the printer button.
- Change the “pages per sheet” to either 2 or 4. (Also be sure the printer setting’s scale are on “fit to printable area.” This should be by default already selected but in some cases it is not.”
- Print!
When you do this, you can then cut the cage cards in bulk by stacking and cutting 15-20 at a time.
