Set Up Labels In HQ
- Go to Settings > Prescription Labels: https://clinichq.com/app#/settings/prescription-labels
- Select the first prescription you’d like to key in the template text for.
Note: If you don’t see it on the list here, go to Settings > Services & Products and add the item there first. In the Instructions field, type in the default instructions here. You can always edit later on.
- Tick if it’s a controlled substance. If it is, only users who have permission (given as a part of the User Roles) can print a prescription label for this drug.

- Clinic HQ has a computer code running in the background of labels which calculates the text character count to the amount of space available and implements the best fit.
Unfortunately, you are not able to create line breaks where you want them.
Our algorithm will strip out any times you click “Enter.” Please do not open a help ticket on this topic, as it is a minor issue that is not resolvable. We must do it this way, given the wide variety of label sizes our clinics use, as well as the enormous variation in the number of text characters our clinics put on labels. - Click Save.
Important: the Dymo 550 label writers only accept Dymo authentic labels, which do not currently offer veterinary practice labels. If you purchase a 550 label writer, your labels will be blank – or they simply will not print at all. You can add the text to your label instructions: For Veterinary Use ONLY
Clinic HQ does not provide support for Dymo 550 printers.
