There are many types of appointments in HQ, including Anesthetic and Non-Anesthetic. Differentiating between these will make sure you have an easier time navigating in Patient Flow.

Anesthetic appointments are any appointments where the animal is receiving a medical treatment that anesthetizes their pain- it doesn’t necessarily mean they are put under like they would be for a spay/neuter. Animals may also need drugs during a dental exam etc. Non-Anesthetic appointments are the appointments that are not using any drugs to reduce pain in the animal. Knowing the difference between these two will allow you to only view one or the other in Patient Flow if wanted.

Scheduling Anesthetic vs. Non-Anesthetic Appointments

  1. Patient Flow allows you to toggle between anesthetic and non-anesthetic appointments up top.

  1. Your spay/neuter appointments will always be anesthetic appointments by nature, but you will have to manually assign anesthetic, non-anesthetic, or disabled (in Patient Flow) to your different types of wellness appointments.
  2. To do so, go to Settings > Wellness Settings > and edit each one individually.

In the example above, a Dental appointment is enabled in Patient Flow as an anesthetic appointment because you will be using anesthesia. A Vaccine Clinic appointment is enabled in Patient Flow as a non-anesthetic appointment because you will not be anesthetizing the animal. And an E-Pharmacy mail order is disabled in Patient Flow.

  1. Appointment types enabled on Patient Flow and made in the wellness calendar, like the dental appointment, will show up in your Patient Flow once checked in.
