The deaths included in this report are only those that were unsuccessful surgeries and not animals that are recorded as deceased from Search Client/Animal. Deaths recorded within an appointment should have occurred within 72 hours of surgery.
The filters at the top allow you to filter for a period of time. The drop-down menus allow you to organize it how you wish. Below are the options:
The report shows the date of death, some animal information, the type, cause of death, necropsy result, vet information, and client information.
How deaths are recorded for reporting.
If an animal dies within 72 hours of surgery, this should be inserted into the patient record as the death may be attributable to surgery. This can be recorded from either from the Surgery treatment sheet of Patient Flow or in the checkout screen. You must choose the ‘Type of Death” as pre, intra, or post-operative and “Cause of Death,”
This is also where “Euthanized per owner request” is input.
