Delete or Don’t: Knowing When to Erase an Appointment!

Deleting an appointment will erase it from the system. Deleting should happen if the appointment was mistakenly made or often, in the case of a Volume Client- more appointments were scheduled than needed. It is important to understand that if the animal has no history with your clinic and their appointment is deleted, the animal will no longer exist under the client profile. Deleting may not always be the correct action to take- most appointments will be canceled in the event the client may need to bring the animal in at a later date.

Deleted appointments cannot be recovered. To see if an appointment was deleted, reference the Audit Log under Clients

Deleting Restrictions:

  • The user’s User Role does not have the permission to delete appointments.
  • There are drugs logged for the appointment.
  • Documents are attached (edit the appointment and delete documents first)
  • Financial payment is attached (edit the appointment and delete/refund/repurpose the money first)

Deleting S/N, Basic Wellness, and Recheck Appointments

There are two places to delete appointments, from the calendar, by clicking on the date and selecting delete – and in checkout. In the calendar, you will do this the same way as canceling appointment, but instead, choose delete.

  1. From Clients > Check in/checkout, click the del tickbox.
  2. Click the no show and delete button. This will delete the appointment.

  1. You can also delete from the Checkout screen indicated in the above step.

What is the Difference between Canceling and Deleting

When an appointment is deleted, information is erased and cannot be recovered. Canceling, however, keeps the animal’s information associated with the client. The canceled appointment and animal can be referenced in the client’s profile under the Appointments tab and the Animal tabs here:
