Packages are a fantastic tool for quickly adding commonly grouped items. This section will guide you through how to set up and apply a package.

Packages do two primary things:

  1. You can quickly add several items to an appointment at once. For example, for a feral cat package, you may want to include the spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, FeLV/FIV test, flea treatment, and microchip. You can easily package these items together and apply them in a couple clicks.
  2. Changing the default price of a collection of items. For example, if you have a dog package for all breeds except pit bulls, the price for that package may be $99 and include surgery as well as a rabies shot. And you can give a discount for any Pitbulls. So here, you could easily set up a package that changes the price and adds in a collection of services.

Note: Packages as a whole are not reported on. It is best to use a subsidy if the discount you are giving comes from a grant or will later need to be reported on.

Rules about pricing in Packages

  • If you leave the price empty it will take the one set in Services and Products.
  • If one of the services is already added, when applying the package it will override the price with the one defined in the package.
  • Volume client custom pricing overrides package pricing. If a VC has a custom price set, the package price will be ignored.

Additionally, packages are often used for weight based pricing. If you want to create a package for a specific case, you will select Create Package.

Package Name Displays with Line Items
When a package is applied to an appointment, the title of the package will be viewable on the service list of the confirmed appointment. The package descriptor will not appear on receipts or invoices. It is only viewable when editing services.
